Almond eye shapes are wider and have smaller eyelids than other eye shapes. They consist of the iris touching the eyelid on both the top and bottom areas. They also have a visible crease, and the end of the eyes becomes narrow at the tear duct and the outer corner.

While any lash style can suit almond eyes, which of them should you recommend if your client asks for suggestions rather than relying on their preferences? Here are two sample situations.
In lash extension styling, it's the most versatile eye shape. So when creating a lash set for your client, it will significantly rely on their preferences.
A client with almond eyes asks for a cat eye lash style. However, you notice that their natural lashes on the outer corners aren't strong enough to handle the style’s long outer corner extensions. This client also likes to sleep on their side, which means that the cat eye might not last. What can you recommend as a better, similar alternative?
Try the butterfly.
Butterfly is a popular classic lash style. It follows the natural eye shape and enhances the center and outer parts of the eye. An experienced lash tech will apply the longest lash extensions at the brow's arch and gradually shorter ones toward the outer eye corner.
The butterfly lash style is ideal in various situations and eye shapes, which include almond eyes.
Here's another situation. Your client wants the open eye or natural look. This style follows their natural eye shape, uses short lash extensions on both inner and outer eye corners, and mixes various lash lengths and curls throughout the eye. The point of this style is to add volume and make the eyes look more open.
Your client has almond eyes, so a natural style will, in theory, suit them. But their eyes are also close-set, which means you must create an illusion of a more expansive space between them. To do this, you need to emphasize the outer eye corners using long lash extensions.
The lash map of the open eye style does not serve this purpose. In this situation, it would be best to recommend a butterfly or cat eye since they can emphasize the outer corners.
Almond-shaped eyes are flexible but not always easy to style at first. There are more factors to look at when choosing a lash style for your client. Eyes are classified according to shape, set (distance), and plane (ascending or descending corners). Let's explore them below.
Almond eye shapes are even. It means the eye plane of your client is neither ascending nor descending. If you draw a horizontal line across the inner and outer corners of the eye, almond eyes commonly lay evenly.
The curl of the lashes also influences the lash style you will choose. Here's the list of the different lash curls, from the straightest to the curliest.

When looking for an appropriate lash extension length, always match it with the length of your client's natural lashes. This is to ensure the lashes can handle the extensions without stressing them. Never use a lash length more than 2 mm longer than the natural lash.
These are the shortest lash extensions and their standard placements:
• 6 mm - inner corners
• 7 mm - inner corners
• 8 mm - outer corners
Meanwhile, these are the longest lash extensions and their popularity in the market:
• 9 to 13 mm - the most popular
• 14 and 15 mm - the least popular
• b- the maximum length you can apply to a client
The lash diameter measures the thickness of the lash extensions. Here are the most popular lash thicknesses in the industry, sorted from thinnest to thickest, and their corresponding lash sets.
• 0.03 mm - mega volume sets
• 0.05 mm - volume sets with 6–7D fans
• 0.07 mm - volume sets with 3–5D fans
• 0.10 and 0.12 mm - classic or hybrid sets, depending on the length of the natural lash
• 0.15 mm - classic sets
Ask about your client's workplace. If they work in a strict, professional setting, choose a classic lash style for your client. Unlike volume and hybrid lash extensions, it's not dramatic and appears more natural.
That said, always aim to grant your client's request if their preferences won’t harm their health. If they have an eye shape that isn't commonly associated with a particular style, you may still find a way to achieve that look.
So, does any lash style suit almond eyes? Yes. However, there are still other considerations. A lot goes into lash styling, even for a flexible eye shape like almond eyes. A good lash professional recognizes these other factors and recommends a look their client will love.
